My name is Paul LaLonde, and I consider myself an armature philosopher but an HR expert! I believe studying philosophy should help you become a better person, so why not a better professional, too??? That’s the truest, purest reason to study philosophy – to become BETTER! Personally, I consider myself a Stoic. I discovered Stoicism completely by accident, but it has changed my life. The ancient Stoic philosopher Epictetus said that philosophy is for everyone, not just bearded old men in ivory towers. Philosophy is about living your best life and acting on what is right. That’s the essence of philosophy, especially Stoicism. So, I take that to heart and to me doing HR right is an act of philosophy. I write about that (and much more) here!
I’m enthusiastic human resources professional with over a decade of experience specializing in organizational leadership, employee learning and development, organizational structure, diversity and inclusion, general nonprofit management, and so much more! When I’m not working full time or opining at the HR Philosopher, I’m watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Game of Thrones, or listening to heavy metal riffage!!! Sometimes, I am moonlighting as an consultant through my side hustle, HR Logic. Ultimately, however, I’m proudest of being a husband, father, and disobedient cat lover.
